Before your journey to Fehmarn

1. From what time can we check in and move into the rental property?
You can check in between 15:00 (3 pm) and 18:00 (6 pm) and move into the booked rental property afterwards.
2. Can we move into the apartment earlier?
No, check-in and moving in are generally only possible from 15:00 (3 pm).
3. Where can we check in?
The check-in takes place in our administration office at Industriestr. 6 in 23769 Fehmarn OT Burg.
4. Attention for arrivals by train from September 2022
From September 2022, the train connection between Neustadt and Puttgarden will be discontinued, as the train route is to be extended due to the Fehmarnbelt crossing. A rail replacement service (SEV) is to be set up from Lübeck main station. The latest information from Tourismus Service Fehmarn is as follows:

  • The departure point in Lübeck is directly in front of Lübeck Central Station.
  • The buses that run between Lübeck and Puttgarden are called „X85 Fehmarn“ and marked accordingly.
  • The buses run every hour
  • The stops of the rail replacement service are located in Puttgarden, Burg, Großenbrode, Oldenburg, Lensahn, Haffkrug and Lübeck
  • Places like Timmendorfer Strand, Bad Schwartau, Scharbeutz and Neustadt can be reached by changing to other buses/trains
  • Please find out about the options for taking your bike or e-bike with you before you start your journey.
  • One bus has 75 seats. Group/class trips should therefore be booked in advance so that an additional bus can be provided. As a rule, group registrations are made as part of a group travel booking at the DB Travel Center. 5. Can we also check in contactlessly?
Yes, contactless check-ins are possible. Please inform us of your request at least 1 week before your arrival by e-mail or telephone.
6. We are arriving late, what do we need to bear in mind?
Should you arrive after 18:00, please contact us by telephone on the following number:

We will then prepare a key safe for you, where the key for your rental property will be deposited. You will always find the code to open the key safe on your booking confirmation.

We will be happy to explain everything else over the phone.
7. Are bed linen and towels in the vacation home?
Bed linen and towels are not included in the rental price. You can book bed linen and towels for the following fee:
Bed linen:   16,- Euro pro Set
Towels:   7,- Euro pro Set
Bed linen & towels:   23,- Euro pro Set
8. Do we have to pay tourist tax?
Yes, every tourist on Fehmarn over the age of 18 is obliged to pay the visitor's tax. The visitor's tax is:
From 01.01. - 14.05.  Low season: 1,50€
From 15.05. - 14.09.  High season: 2,30€
From 15.09. - 31.12  Low season: 1,50€
We reserve the right to change the tourist tax and periods. Concessions for severely disabled persons and, if applicable, accompanying persons are available from a GDB (degree of disability) of 80%. In order to receive the discount, you must present your disabled person's ID card at check-in.

As proof that you have paid the visitor's tax, you will receive the Ostseecards from us at check-in.
9. What are Ostseecards and where can we get them?
The Ostseecard is your proof that you have paid the tourist tax. You will receive your Ostseecard from us at check-in on the day of arrival.

For all persons aged 18 and over the tourist tax applies:
From 01.01. - 14.05.  Low season: 1,50€
From 15.05. - 14.09.  High season: 2,30€
From 15.09. - 31.12  Low season: 1,50€

10. We need to cancel the booking, what are the conditions?
You can read the cancellation conditions in the GTC under "6) Cancellation by the tenant".

11. Do you offer travel cancellation insurance?

12. Is Fehmarn a car-free island and can we arrive by car or train?
Fehmarn is not a car-free island and is connected to the mainland by the Fehmarnsund Bridge. You can therefore arrive by car or by public transport such as train or bus. Please refer to point 4 in this FAQ if you are traveling by public transport.
13. What do we need to bring with us?
We have created a detailed packing list for vacation homes, vacation houses and bungalows you can download it easily and free of charge.

During your stay on Fehmarn

14. We have forgotten bed linen and/or towels, what should we do?
If you have forgotten bed linen and/or towels, you can inform us at or after check-in. We will then be happy to provide you with sets at the following charges:
Bed linen:   16,- Euro pro Set
Towels:   7,- Euro pro Set
Bed linen & towels:   23,- Euro pro Set
15. Where can I do my laundry on Fehmarn? Is there a launderette?
The two nearest laundromats for your laundry are:

  1. Insel-Reinigung Textilreinigung is located at Bahnhofstraße 56 in Burg auf Fehmarn. It is a small building right next to the REWE supermarket, near the town park of Burg.
  2. The launderette from the IFA Fehmarn Hotel & Ferienzentrum on the south beach. There you will find washing machines and dryers that you can start with 5 x 50 cent pieces per wash or dry cycle. Make sure you follow the instructions on the machines exactly.
The launderette is somewhat hidden in a small corridor between the beach bazaar (a small kiosk) and the beach pizzeria PPS. If you have difficulty finding the launderette, you can ask for help at the hotel reception.

19. When and how often do ferries depart from Puttgarden to Denmark?
The ferries run around the clock, always 15 minutes after and 15 minutes before the hour.
20. How much does the ferry from Puttgarden to Denmark cost and how long does the journey take?
A ferry ride takes about 45 minutes. The cost varies depending on whether you are traveling on foot or in a vehicle. Pedestrian tickets start at around 10 euros. Here you can find Price information and ticket booking from Scandlines.
21. Do we have to clean the barbecue if we have one at our accommodation, or is this done during the final cleaning?
The cleaning of the barbecue at the accommodation is not included in the fee for the final cleaning. You are therefore responsible for cleaning the barbecue.
22. Ammunition on the beach - Please note when treasure hunting on the beach
As a result of the two world wars, many explosive remnants and other munitions have ended up in the Baltic Sea. As they continue to decompose, potentially life-threatening remnants are increasingly being washed up on the beaches. They can cause cuts, burns and injuries from explosions. 23. Change for the free bus shuttle across the Fehmarnsund Bridge
Due to bad weather conditions, construction work on the Fehmarnsund Bridge could not proceed as planned. As a result, the footpath and cycle path across the bridge will remain closed until further notice. If you would still like to walk or cycle to the mainland or back again, there is a free shuttle service. From 01.03.24, the island-side stop for this will be in Avendorf "Am Reisediek". 24. We have forgotten some of our things, what should we do?
Please call us as soon as possible at 04371 86 42 01 or write us an e-mail to info@inselblume-fehmarn.de. If we have not already found your lost property during cleaning, we will be happy to search for it. If we have the item, we can usually send it to you by post. Please make sure you contact us so that we can assign the item to you and send it to you. Otherwise, we will dispose of the items after a retention period.
